Ooma provides real-time emergency alerts with new 911 notifications features

PALO ALTO, CA - Tuesday, May 10th, 2011

Ooma, Inc., the leading provider of HD-quality free home phone service, today introduced its 911 Notifications feature, radically advancing critical communications during a home emergency situation.

With the 911 Notifications feature, Ooma Premier subscribers can enter up to three email addresses or mobile phone numbers into the 911 Notifications area of the “My Ooma” online control panel. The Ooma 911 Notifications feature will then send alert messages to specified recipients the very moment 911 is called from the subscriber’s Ooma phone number. When safety is a top priority, the 911 Notifications feature from Ooma fits the bill like no other.

“Whether your kids are home alone or with a babysitter, or you’re concerned about aging parents, our new 911 Notifications feature offers you the peace of mind that you’ll be on top of any situation,” said Jim Gustke, Vice President of Marketing at Ooma. “Today’s announcement adds a critical home safety feature to the portfolio of innovative features which make up the Ooma Premier service, and demonstrates how our unique capabilities can be extended into home monitoring and other valuable services.”

PricingOoma Telo retails for $249.99. Ooma Premier is an optional level of service offering multiple advanced telephony features and services, including new 911 Notifications, and costs $9.99 per month. New customers signing-up for one-year of Ooma Premier service receive their choice of a free number port, Ooma Telo handset, Ooma Bluetooth Adapter or extended warranty.
