The family phone base has a large pre-programmed 911 button that makes it easy to connect with first responders. You can also set up 911 alerts so that up to three people will automatically be sent a text or email when 911 is called from the Ooma home phone. You can even create a custom 911 alert message with special medical information that you want anyone receiving your alerts to share with emergency personnel. Ooma Home Phone service uses address-based 911. This means that even if the person making the 911 call can’t speak, the address will be relayed to first responders. Phone number porting is an option that lets you to transfer your existing phone number from your old phone company to Ooma. By taking advantage of the number porting option, you can save yourself the hassle of contacting all of the people who have your phone number to update them with a new one. Yes, callers can leave a voicemail message when you don’t answer your phone. Ooma Telo’s built-in answering machine is able to store up to 22 minutes of voicemails.

If you’re not home, you can check your voicemails online through the online account portal at my.ooma.com or by phone. You can also have your voicemail messages emailed to you as audio file attachments.
