Why is porting important?

Porting allows you to transfer your existing business phone number from your old phone company to Ooma. This reduces time and hassle for you and your employees while also making the transition easy for your customers as well.

How do I port my business number?

You can port your business phone number through Ooma Office Manager, by contacting our customer care team or using the convenient tool below. Porting a number is complimentary for all U.S. and Canada numbers. You can add additional phone numbers at the standard rate of $9.95/month for US accounts, and $14.95/month for Canadian accounts.

What you need to know about Ooma Office porting.

Here are a few important things you should know before you begin the number porting process:

  • Check to see if your number is portable by using the porting tool below. Number porting is available in most areas.
  • You can port your number by using the “Porting” subtab option in the Account tab in Ooma Office Manager.
  • It may take 3-4 weeks to successfully port your number over to Ooma Office. It is important to keep your existing business phone service until this process is complete, or you may run the risk of losing your business number.
  • You can use the “Porting” tab in Ooma Office Manager to check on the status of your business number – you will be provided a temporary number in the meantime that will be replaced once the porting process is complete. If you change your mind, you can also keep your temporary number permanently.
