We live in a rural area and bought OOMA to replace our local service which was becoming too expensive. It has been working great.
Got this to replace a second land line. Figured I would try this out for my office phone, and if it was good enough, I would consider another one for my wife's office phone after we got settled into our new house. Just tonight, my wife was complaining about the landline quality from our service provider. That was all I needed, will be ordering a second OOMA by the end of the week. Overall quality has been good. I do have an occasional reduction in quality but it always seems intermittent.
Excellent service, I'm glad I switched to Ooma!

So far I'm very impressed with Ooma's service.
Why I canceled Ooma Premier
Verle Emanuelson on Aug 25, 2018
The only feature I was truly interested in with Ooma Premier was the function that blocks spam calls. I have never received as many "false number" solicitation calls as I have since starting with Ooma--at least two/day and sometimes four or five. Many of the calls, when I answered, ended with a musical ringing bell sound. Many were telemarketers that weren't really calling from the number that showed on the screen. Some were calls from "Unknown Number".I am keeping the service for two reasons: price and sound quality.

When dialing "certain numbers" the phone is silent. A long delay, long enough where you are ready to hang up then it starts ringing.Answering Machine: I worked with Customer Service to solve this one. I was having a problem with people calling and leaving a message while my message on the machine was playing. They were talking over me. You end up with a partial message or none. It was suggested to me to change the number of rings and I did. From 4 to 3. This seems to help but hasn't cleared it up we still have the original problem from time to time. We still like the whole set up of Ooma

It helped tremendously cost wise to have the promotion for a free handset with the purchase of the base unit. I did not think the cost of the porting of the phone number would be as much as it was, $40+ dollars.

Good to have a 2nd telephone that I can rely on. The sound quality is better than my cell phone. Pay around $5.50/month taxes and fees. Hopefully this is keeping it legal.

I switched over to Ooma from Vonage a month ago. The installation was super easy(Only took 2-3 minutes). I have it connected directly into my home network and there were no issues with the connectivity(unlike my prior carrier). The hardware is far superior to the hardware that Vonage uses(i.e. when my power goes out, now I don't have to disconnect the entire network to wait for the hardware with Vonage to reboot). It really is the best service out there in pricing and service.
The Way Telephone Service Should Be
OOMA is the way telephone service should be.Not like ATT, Verizon, Frontier and the others, who charge you a lot of money, give you poor service, and take their time to fix your phone service when it goes down.Thank God for the internet because that is how I found OOMA.I am 9 months into the service with OOMA, and I am completely happy.Great Sound Qualtiy. Great Customer Service, and at a Great Price !!!!Keep up the Great Work -- OOMA !!I am spreading the GOOD word about you to others, who are tired of being ripped off, and being forced to one phone company in their area, who has a monopoly over them !!
Well Worth A Course Correction - OOMA DOES IT NICELY
Joseph Lucas on Aug 22, 2018
Let’s be honest, many folks are now all about their smart cell phone ... they have "cut the cord”. BUT it maybe a bit to much of a course correction. Also, speaking freely, good, old MA does not want your hard line phone service and the other guy in the CAST, hooked the phone into a costly TV-C thing thats gets more costly each year.So check out OOMA ... after you pay for the equipment and porting your phone, you only have to pay city, state, FED taxes (perhaps 7 bucks a month or so). ALSO, you can get some other features - like stopping those rob calls, telemarketers, etc - for a few “Patrons” a month. AND YOU WILL ENJOY the many features available ... I like the call transfer ... any calls coming to the house when I am out and about can transfer to my cell phone. AND the caller does not know you are taking it on your cell, so you can use ONE NUMBER ONLY, and never lose a caller with whom you want to connect. WELL WORTH YOUR TIME TO CHECK OUT. Enjoy your new peace of miind. STILL NOT SURE ... go ahead, waste some more time, energy, and cost, read some of the other great review ... then check it out at COSTCO ... save still more money. AND COSTCO always takes back if you are unhappy ... bu by now you lost the old number. CHOW!
